Computer Generated Root Locus Plots. User-Programmer's Manual.

Abstract

The program described in this report was developed to find the poles and zeros of a closed loop feedback system. In order to do this, it is necessary to find the roots of the characteristic equation of the system. The program alters the characteristic equation by varying the gain over a given interval. A twenty-fifth order system can be handled by the program. Program output consists of: ordered sets of roots for each value of the closed loop gain, a printer plot of all the roots (poles) in the left half plane, and a labeled CalComp plot of the root locus.
