A Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (NEMP) and Light Flash Sensor.

Abstract

An electromagnetic pulse and light flash sensor, capable of sensing the occurrence of nuclear blasts, was developed and evaluated by the Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory. This unit is used in conjunction with a blast-closure valve for protective shelters. The sensor is not subject to excessive levels of gamma radiation. (Author)
