Evaluation of the Marden Brush Cutter (B7MA).
Abstract
The Marden Brush Cutter was evaluated to determine its suitability as a secondary land clearing device in the combat environment of Vietnam. It consists of two steel cylinders mounted inside two rectangular metal frames. Twelve cutting blades are spaced evenly around the cylinder. The two sections are connected either in tandem or in duplex and a tow bar connects the cutter to a towing tractor. Engineer units of the 20th Engineer Brigade operated the two brush cutters from 10 January to 9 March 1970. Results of the evaluation revealed that the cutter was not rugged enough for operation as a secondary land clearing device in Vietnam.
