Initial Production Test of Air Conditioners, 6000 BTU Per Hour, 60 and 400 HZ.

Abstract

The air conditioners were designed for a minimum cooling of 6000 Btu per hour and a minimum heating capacity of 4000 Btu per hour. The two models of air conditioners are of the same configuration, differing only in the electrical characteristics; model CE-6A-60 operating on 60 Hz and model CE-6A-400 operating on 400 Hz. Each model consists of a condenser unit and a separate evaporator unit together with necessary refrigerant hoses and electrical cables for connection (ref frontispiece). The condenser unit consists of a compressor, condensing coil, receiver, fan, and motor. The evaporator unit consists of a cooling coil, heating elements, expansion valve, filter, and various operational controls. The objectives were: (1) To determine if the subject air conditioner conforms to the purchase requirements; (2) To perform such other tests as may be required for USATECOM to determine suitability of the subject items for Army issue.
