Development of a Rubber Base for the Helo Landing Zone Locator,

Abstract

The report describes combinations of a low density foam and lead filled rubber which provides shock mitigating and self-righting features for an unretarded, air deployed device. Techniques and materials are given for fabricating lead filled rubber hemispheres. The lead-rubber composite is bonded to the under side of a low density polyethylene foam housing containing electronic devices. Dispersion characteristics of several grades of lead powder in a rubber matrix are discussed. (Author)
