Project FLOOD, Data Report of Mediterranean Sea, May 1961 to July 1962,

Abstract

Project FLOOD, Fleet Observation of Oceanographic Data, is an experiment to determine the feasibility of using fleet units to obtain oceanographic data. The task of obtaining the oceanographic information, badly needed to improve our scant knowledge of the Navy's operating media, is a huge and long term one for the professional oceanographers and survey ships that are available. Meanwhile, the possibility of using the surface forces of the Navy to supplement these data seems worth investigating. (Author)
