Montana Large Aperture Seismic Array

Abstract

The report concerns the technical activity associated with the operation and maintenance of the Montana Large Aperture Seismic Array (LASA) for the period January - March, 1970. A planned study of the short-period seismic channel tolerances is presented. A new procedure for characterizing array equipment failures is described along with changes to the EDP maintenance documentation system. Recent calibration data for the ESSA microbarograph array are given. Release of a weather bulletin via phone line interface between the LASA Data Center and the Billings Weather Bureau is described. Description of a long-period seismometer cabling and free-period adjustment improvement modification is included. A short-period sensor field test and RA-5 amplifier rehabilitation program in progress is detailed. The LDC computer and array operation statistics are provided.
