Reliable Flat Cable Connector.

Abstract

The test program and statistical data analysis of Phase One is complete and results are reported. The investigation of four types of cable conductor-connector contact interfaces in Phase One as completed, based on tests, data analysis and related Martin Marietta Corporation experience with soldered and welded interconnections on the SPRINT missile program. Three connectors (ITT Cannon, Burndy and Schjeldahl) were evaluated under Phase One. A new connector being jointly developed by ITT Cannon and Microdot, utilizing the cable termination concept in the ITT Cannon connector evaluated under Phase One, was selected for evaluation in Phase Two of the program. Hardware for the new connector did not become available during the term of the program. Evaluation of the connector is based on observation, design reviews, and evaluation of design drawings and discussion with vendor design engineering personnel. Military specification slash sheets (draft) were prepared by ITT Cannon and are reviewed in the report. (Author)
