Stresses Around Two Adjacent Unequal Circular Holes Under Biaxial Loads.

Abstract

Elastic stresses are determined around two adjacent circular openings of unequal size in a thin plate under biaxial loads. The line joining the centers of the two openings can be oriented at any arbitrary angle with respect to the line of loads. The stresses are obtained as a series in bipolar coordinates and are computed on the IBM-7090 computer for a number of geometries. The convergence of this series is governed by the ratio of the size and the spacing of the two openings. (Author)
