A Solid Propellant Failure Criterion.

Abstract

In this report a solid propellant failure criterion is formulated. The failure criterion is a generalized form of the Tobolsky - Eyring equation which is based on the theory of absolute reaction rates. The generalized equation is applied to two propellant formulations and two types of loading histories with excellent results. These results are however by no means conclusive. Additional work is necessary to show the validity of the approach. (Author)
