A Methodology for Forecasting the Distribution of Basement Plan Areas in Future Construction.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop forecasts of basement area in 37 selected standard metropolitan statistical areas throughout the nation for 1-year periods in the 1970 to 1980 time period. Basement area was measured in terms of square footage available. Input data for the study were furnished by the Office of Civil Defense, National Civil Defense Computer Facility, and consisted of the current 'Tracted Population in Shelters' file which forecasts population in each standard location area for each standard metropolitan statistical area. The standard methodology developed in the previous study 'Distribution of Slantable Construction,' yielded the desired results as outlined in the program objective. The results of this study were concatenated with the current tracted population in shelters file, and are now available as information for operational studies. (Author)
