Microminiature Attitude Reference Platform Gimbal Mechanization Study.

Abstract

This report describes a detailed study of a miniature attitude reference platform mechanization where two multisensors are mounted in a gimballed system to provide an all attitude platform. The study includes consideration of the interface of the inertial instruments, gimbal torquers, gimbal pickoffs, sliprings, bearings, electronics and the thermal characteristics of the platform system. Interaction among the various components and the disciplines of reliability, maintainability, producibility and size were considered in the study to produce an optimum platform system configuration.
