Maintainability Prediction and Demonstration Techniques.

Abstract

The report presents the results of a tudy to develop and validate improved maintainability-prediction and -demonstration techniques for use on all major classes of Air Force electronic systems at the on-equipment level of maintenance. The techniques were developed for application from concept formulation through design acceptance. The techniques were developed by the analysis of data collected in the field, by design analysis, and by a contractor survey. The prediction techniques are design-oriented and predict individual categories of time (preparation, fault location, item obtainment, fault correction, and preventive maintenance). For the demonstration techniques, emphasis was placed on using prior information, designing statistical sampling procedures, and developing test criteria. (Author)
