Radar Altimeter Low Altitude Control System. BQM-34A.

Abstract

The Radar Altimeter Low Altitude Control System (RALACS) is a Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical Company built system that is to be used on the BQM-34A. A description of this system and of the testing that took place at the Air Force Missile Development Center, Holloman AFB, New Mexico, are presented in this report. The tests were conducted at 500, 450, 350, 250, 200, and 100 feet above the terrain with bank angles of 30 degrees and 45 degrees and at speeds from 320 to 380 KIAS. It was successfully demonstrated that RALACS has the capability to maintain a predetermined terrain clearance.
