Dielectric Antenna Study.

Abstract

The report covers a study of the radiation characteristics of dielectric lens antennas. Lens losses, tolerances, and mounting structures are given careful consideration. The reduction of reflection loss with a matching layer is studied experimentally. Good fabrication of foam glass layers is achieved, and calculations are shown which indicate the improvement in efficiency due to addition of the layers. A new lens which provides uniform aperture distribution of both amplitude and phase is developed, and its characteristics are studied in detail. Recommendations for further study are given. (Author)
