High Energy Density Capacitors.

Abstract

This report contains all pertinent information gathered during a program of workdesigned to fabricate 1.5 pound, 200 joule, 2500 volt capacitors capable ofwithstanding 10,000 discharges into a specific load. The efforts resulted incapacitors fabricated from coated metallized polyethylene terephthalate ilms, which are capable of withstanding voltage stresses 45% greater than theother present state-of-the-art units. These capacitors are approximately 50%smaller than present state-of-the-art units, and weight 1.75 pounds. Experimentsin the 1000-volt region are also reported. (Author-PL)
