C-141A Computer Code for Runway Roughness Studies. Volume I. Program Development.

Abstract

A method of analysis and the digital computer program developed for determining the dynamic response of the C-141A aircraft to variations in runway roughness during taxi speeds up to V(STALL) are presented. The analytical model describes a flexible aircraft with 15 flexible modes, nonlinear single chamber landing gear struts and nonlinear tire springs. Aerodynamic forces are computed using rigid body coefficients, and provisions are included for thrust and braking vectors. The digital computer program is coded for use with the CDC 6600 computer. A discussion of the program development including mathematical equations, aircraft numerical data, and comparisons of theoretical and experimental data is presented. (Author)
