Organo-Metallic and Organo-Metalloidal High-Temperature Lubricants and Related Materials.

Abstract

This report is concerned primarily with studies on the synthesis of new reactive and polyfunctional organosilicon monomers. These monomers should provide an avenue to novel organosilicon polymers, relative to high temperature fluids and lubricants. Among the approaches to the preparation of reactive monomers are those involving a divalent species such as dimethylsilylene, Me2Si; some new reactive, polyfunctional types of high symmetry; and some alpha, omega-dihalopermethylated polysilanes as precursors for novel polymeric organosilicon compounds.
