Test Firing of an Uncured Propellant Warm Gas Generator.

Abstract

The first full scale test firing of an uncured propellant warm gas generator was accomplished. The test objective was to demonstrate a long duration firing of a 2000F flame temperature, double base uncured propellant. The propellant formulation was developed from an existing cured formulation by altering the ratio of certain chemical constituents. The test motor was a heavyweight reusable gas generator, the AFRPL 30-inch char motor. The test was considered to be very successful, with an 800 second duration, 300 psig average chamber pressure trace being produced. (Author)
