Nuclear Structure of Sc45 From an Investigation of the Ca44 (p, Gamma)Sc45 Reaction.

Abstract

The Ca44(p, gamma)Sc45 reaction was studied in the proton energy range from 1175 to 1900 KeV. 172 resonances were identified. Spectra were obtained at each of the resonances at E sub p = 1184, 1246, 1361, 1430, 1624, 1645, and 1705 KeV using a 60 cc Ge(Li) detector. Analysis of these spectra enabled the location of 17 new energy levels in Sc45, the formulation of a decay scheme between 1.6 and 5 MeV, the location of two new gamma-ray branchings below 1.6 MeV, and the determination of spins and parities for four levels. A new computer code was developed for analysis of complex Ge(Li) spectra. (Author)
