Properties of the Solar Granulation at Distances from the Sun's Center.

Abstract

Three filtergrams of the solar granulation taken in the light of the Fe 6569 A line at various positions on the solar disk were analyzed in an attempt to detect and measure the Doppler velocities due to horizontal and vortex motions. The results establish the existence of a horizontal outflow, but the vortex motions across a statistical granule was calculated and ranged from zero at granule center to three at 600 km from granule center.
