Prototype Cesium Bombardment System.

Abstract

The report covers the development of a one-millipound thrust cesium bombardment ion engine system suitable for demonstrating north-south stationkeeping on the ATS-F earth-synchronous satellite for a period of one year. The program began with the development of a suitable ion thruster and proceeded through the design, fabrication, and testing system, packaged in the configuration specified for integration on the satellite. A series of tests, verifying conformance to program specifications are described and data reported.
