A Plan for the Development of CARD (Code for the Assessment of RADS Damage).
Abstract
A plan is presented for the development and checkout of a trajectory computer program which couples the solution of the vehicle motion with its in-flight shape change. Also included in the report are the thermal, structural, and aerodynamic modules resulting from associated tasks of C/O P012. When this plan is implemented, a capability will exist for analyzing the performance of damaged, integrated wall vehicles. This capability will be in the form of a computer program called CARD - Code for Assessment of RADS Damage. CARD will be based on a similar program (REDYP - Reentry Dynamics Program) which is applicable to a composite heat shield/bond/structure design. (Author)
