3- TO 5-Micron Parametric Oscillator.

Abstract

The report summarizes the results of the first twelve months of a program whose goal is the generation of infrared outputs in the 3 to 5 micron region using optical parametric techniques. An external parametric oscillator was built and operated which uses lithium niobate as the nonlinear material and the repetitively Q-switched 1.06 micron output from a Nd:YAG laser as the pump. An average power output of 37 mw at 2.13 micron was achieved with a conversion efficiency from 1.06 micron to 2.13 microns) of 12%. (Author)
