Oceanic Fronts and Their Seasonal Positions on the Surface.

Abstract

Oceanic fronts have received relatively little attention in recent literature. The best overall summaries and oceanwide mapping of fronts are found in German works of the 1930's. The location and relative intensity of oceanic fronts at the surface are computed twice daily at Fleet Numerical Weather Central from sea-surface temperature analyses. The seasonal mean positions of the oceanic fronts in 1968 and their variations are presented in this paper. (Author)
