Air-Sea Rescue Beacon Locator Study

Abstract

A study was made of air-sea radio rescue beacon system which are being used by the U. S. Navy. Emphasis was upon examination of the 'practical' aspects of these systems and their utilization. Included as parts of the study were: Theoretical prediction of detection range of radio beacons; Beacon antenna pattern studies; Analyses and tests of beacons and aircraft equipments; Flight tests; Interviews with Navy and civilian personnel who have knowledge relating to these beacons; and A study of documents and reports.
