Sonodiver Recovery Buoy Antenna System. Monopole Effectively 5/8-wavelength High Capacitively Coupled Through Dielectric Sphere Operates in Seawater at 20,000-ft Depth.

Abstract

A monopole antenna system loaded with a lumped inductor and a lumped capacitor is designed for use with dielectric submersible buoys. The antenna operates as an effective 5/8 wavelength monopole with a maximum of +3-dB gain (relative to a 1/4 wavelength monopole) at the horizon. The system is simple and allows the spherical buoy to maintain its watertight integrity. (Author)
