Summary of SHERWOOD Activities,
Abstract
The report presents an extremely brief summary of SHERWOOD activities. It covers a minimum of background information necessary to understand the problems involved. This treatment does not do justice to the magnitude of the problems, which have, perhaps, been over simplified in the interests of brevity. Sketches and short explanations of the functioning of the various experimental devices have been included. The term SHERWOOD has been used somewhat broadly, in that projects relating to controlled thermonuclear reactions are included which, in the restricted sense, may not be a part of the program.
