Design Study for a Military Airborne Digisplay System.
Abstract
The report summarizes the results of an 8-month design study for an airborne DIGISPLAY system that is capable of displaying information from 525-line military and commercial television sensors. A parametric tradeoff analysis was conducted to determine the optimum design configuration from the standpoint of performance and practicability of production. A complete design analysis of the selected design approach is presented, including a description of the logic and circuit designs, preliminary configuration drawings, estimates of size, weight, power consumption, and system packaging options. An applications study is included that specifies the modulation transfer characteristics of the DIGISPLAY system in comparison with a continuously scanned CRT display system, and outlines the interface requirements for the system to operate with various types of airborne reconnaissance sensors. A DIGISPLAY reconnaissance display system is described that utilizes a digital storage device to provide a moving raster display with image freeze capability. (Author)
