Results of Department of Defense Cost Research Survey.

Abstract

The survey presents the results of a canvass of cost research activities recently completed by the military departments in cooperation with the Department of Defense. It was the original intent to include reports on all work, whether done in-house or by contractors, which would be of interest to analysts responsible for estimating the costs of major weapon systems or their related support. The survey, however, includes work which may also have other applications, and some studies which would have only limited applicability to cost analysis were excluded. The preparation of the survey reflects the importance accorded to sound cost analysis in force planning. (Author)
