Structural Design and Analysis of Filament Wound Rocket Motor Cases.

Abstract

An approach to the structural design, analysis, and failure prediction of FRP MOTOR CASES IS DESCRIBED. The analysis and failure prediction aspects are applicable to filament wound structures in general. Membrane-netting theory is used in the design phase to establish the geometry of the motor case. The equations necessary to calculate the optimum nozzle profile are included in the design phase and phase equations consider the nonuniform pressure distribution in the nozzle. A finite element computer program applicable to general filament wound structures is described. (Author, modified-PL)
