Linear System Design. Application of State Space Methods to the Design of Linear Time-Invariant Systems.

Abstract

The report describes a FORTRAN V digital computer program which applies state space methods to the design of linear time-invariant systems. The significant results from this theory applicable to linear time-invariant systems are stated without proof and summarized. This includes the so-called optimal regulator, model-in-the-system and model-in-the-performance index formulations. The use of a digital computer program that implements these results is explained. Several examples are included to show the ease with which the program can be applied. Also included are the program listing and the computer printout of the examples solved. (Author)
