Game-Theoretic Analysis of Military Operations - Description of the Battlefield Model.

Abstract

The tactics and strategies of military operations were analyzed for the purpose of constructing a set of logical functions which, when integrated over the forces deployed on the battlefield or theater of operations, result in a quantitative definition of the particular military operation under consideration. The model can be used in either the tactical (MILITAC) or the strategic (MILISTRAC) mode. A tactical problem of strategic force deployment is illustrated to indicate the logical constructs necessary to define a scenario having both strategic and tactical elements of military operations. Other examples and their corresponding logic are discussed. These include guerrilla operations, remote area operations, and amphibious operations. The design of the computer program is described and flowcharts of the main program and subroutines are presented. (Author)
