The System Life Cycle: A Defense Weapon System Scenario Simulation Model.

Abstract

In order to provide a learning aid with which students in the Defense Weapon System Management Center could gain experience in a wide variety of decisions in various interrelated functional areas throughout a weapon system life cycle, a simulation model was formulated. This simulation consists of a life cycle scenario for a fictitious 'Conqueror' surface to surface missile system, with manual and computer assisted student exercises at 35 critical decision points. These exercises cover the full range of functional areas and program phasing, and are keyed to material and decision techniques covered in concurrent classroom instruction. The student receives a 'school solution,' in terms of the next increment of the scenario, at the conclusion of each exercise. (Author)
