Ambient Temperature Binder Cure Catalysts for Hydroxy Terminated Systems.

Abstract

Several methods for catalysis of HTPB propellants have been investigated in the ambient cure program. These methods include: Diffusion control catalysis, Formation of catalyst in propellant cure, and Catalyst-suppressor-scavenger method. All of these provide a longer potlife for a given cure time than is possible with a single catalyst. The two latter methods are quite promising and are probably applicable to all HTPB systems in which the uncatalyzed rate of reaction is not faster than can be tolerated for potlife considerations.
