Gas Turbine Compressor In-Service Engineering Study.

Abstract

A comprehensive in-service engineering study was conducted to determine the possible reasons for the low TBF (Time Between Failure) for Navy GTC (Gas Turbine Compressor) engines. The areas of study included the comparison of military and comparable commercial units, the maintenance and overhaul concepts, the training methods, and the product support program presently in effect. This is a progress report which includes the findings of the study with conclusions and recommended action to increase the TBF for Navy GTC engines. A final report will be prepared after all recommended actions have been completed. (Author)
