The Captive Flight Drag of a Series of Conformally Packaged Weapons.

Abstract

The paper presents the results of a wind tunnel test of the captive flight drag of a series of conformally packaged weapon systems. The package shapes tested are cubical, rectangular, cylindrical, and hemi-nosed cylindrical. The spacing between the packages and the nose and tail fairings contributions to the captive drag were also tested. The data are presented in the form of equivalent full-scale drag area; that is, incremental carriage drag divided by the free-stream dynamic pressure. (Author)
