Azimuthal Distribution and Characteristic Properties of Ambient Noise at H.F.

Abstract

An experimental method was devised and is presented for determining the azimuthal distribution and characteristic properties of ambient noise in the high frequency band. A discussion of possible sources of the noise is given. Assumptions made and reasons for conducting the experiment using the method described are stated, as are assumptions made in the analysis procedure followed. Detailed discussion of experimental procedure is given and early results from data collected are presented. (Author)
