Troop Test of Turbine Engine Analysis Check (TEAC) and Daily Engine Recording (DER) Procedures.

Abstract

This report contains the analyses and results of a five month troop test of the Turbine Engine Analysis Check (TEAC) and Daily Engine Recording (DER) procedures. The TEAC/DER system consists of an engine condition monitoring method based on a topping check in which specific performance parameters are compared to final run readings as recorded at the time of engine delivery and acceptance (TEAC), and a day to day comparison of these parameters at identical power outputs (DER). The troop test, under the control of USAAVSCOM, consisted of a test unit using TEAC/DER and a control unit using normal trouble-shooting and maintenance in each of three major Commands: U.S. Army Europe, U.S. Continental Army Command, and U.S. Army Vietnam. The TEAC procedures are an effective condition monitoring system which, when diligently applied, will result in increased unit operational readiness and decreased maintenance effort. The DER procedures are also effective; and consideration of changes beyond those of one day will increase its value. (Author)
