Application of the A-X 10-Year Operating and Support Cost Model to the F-4E.

Abstract

This report presents an Operating and Support Cost Model which was developed for use in the acquisition of the A-X weapon system. It also records the results of exercising that model with input data drawn from existing Air Force data systems and reflecting F-4E experience. The feasibility of the F-4E exercise contributes to confidence in the practicality of using this model for credible estimation of weapon system Life Cycle Costs, and in turn for using these costs in the multitude of decisions that are faced when developing and producing a new hardware system (including Source Selection, Integrated Logistics Support tradeoffs, etc.).
