Review and Discussion of Spatial Frequency Response Measurements in Human Vision,

Abstract

Selected data related to the spatial frequency response in human vision are reviewed, and the application of these data to image evaluation problems pertinent to optical design considerations is discussed. Topics include the modulation transfer function for the optics of the eye and threshold modulation for the detection of sine waves and square waves. The effects of mean luminance, viewing distance, target size, exposure duration orientation, and color are discussed. (Author)
