Methodology for Asphalt Airfield Pavement Life Prediction Based on Oxidative and Related Studies.

Abstract

The investigation concerns asphalt properties exclusive of foundation behavior, mix design and loading. A method has been developed based on the relative resistance to change of asphalt cements typical of those used in airfield pavements having 9 to 19 years of service. The technique utilizes Phillips Aging and Curing Apparatus to obtain a continuous record of response to a moderate oxidative environment. (Author)
