Comparative Evaluation of Scott Aviation Inc. Model 3300 Closed Circuit Oxygen Breathing Apparatus with Single and Double Demand Valves.

Abstract

The Scott Aviation closed circuit oxygen underwater breathing apparatus was evaluated to determine the relative merits of single demand valve actuation versus double demand valve actuation of make-up oxygen. No significant improvement is provided through the use of a single demand valve as designed. Excessive breathing bag inflaction develops. The double demand valve requires a means of adjustment to provide a satisfactory actuation level. (Author)
