Mathematics of Cascade Operators.

Abstract

The report discusses application of the mathematics of linear systems to electronic systems made up of collections of circuits. The matrix operator and state vector approach which have been used with R L and C parts is applied to system functions. The attention to the memory action of L and C components has been shifted to the more general weighting factors which make up the matrix operator. It was shown that weighting factors and state variables can be given in terms of a transfer vector which is analogous to the transfer function of the frequency domain. The transfer vector is a fundamental input as it contains all of the information (weighting factors) which specifies the system as an operator. An array of the weighting factors represents the system operator. A given system can be represented by a cascade of these operators, some of which (those without memory) reduce to scaling of the input. (Author)
