Tactical Operations System. Basic System Description. Annex C. Enemy Situation.

Abstract

The Basic System Description (BSD) is a basic system specification for the Tactical Operations System (TOS). TOS is an ADP system being developed to support Tactical Army Commanders in the 1975-1980 time frame. The Technical Summary of the BSD provides a general description of the TOS. Annex C supports the Technical Summary and is restricted to the functional application of the Enemy Situation (ENSIT) at echelons from battalion to field army. The ENSIT application primarily supports intelligence staffs in production of intelligence essential to tactical commanders. This function encompasses the identification, description, location, activities, losses, and capabilities of enemy troops, weapons, installations, equipment and fortifications. Annex C defines the data base, input and output formats, special processes, and transaction processing and estimates transaction loads and data base volumes. This application interfaces with Intelligence Collection Management (Annex D), Target Intelligence (Annex E), Order of Battle (Annex H) and Weather Data (Annex K). (Author)
