Tactical Operations System. Basic System Description. Annex G. Army Air Operations.

Abstract

The Basic System Description (BSD) is a basic system specification for the Tactical Operations System (TOS). TOS is an ADP system being developed to support Tactical Army Commanders in the 1975-1980 time frame. The Technical Summary of the BSD provides a general description of the TOS. Annex G supports the Technical Summary and is restricted to the functional application of Army Air Operations at division, corps and field army echelons. This application supports the Air Control Element (ACE) of the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) in the planning and implementing of reconnaissance/surveillance, direct fire support, aerial artillery support, air mobile and logistical/administrative operations and for allocation and re-allocation of aviation resources. It includes use of information on location, availability, status, capabilities, configuration, and current and projected employment of Army aircraft. Annex G describes the data base, input and output formats, transaction processing and estimates the transaction loads and data base volumes. This application interfaces with Friendly Unit Information (Annex B), Intelligence Collection Management (Annex D), Terrain Intelligence (Annex F) and Weather Data (Annex K). (Author)
