Directed Tests for Transportation Evaluation of Small Containers for Baggage.

Abstract

This report describes tests performed on two small polyethylene containers to evaluate their suitability for use in DOD sponsored transportation of baggage. Three tests were made: a drop test, a stacking test, and a watertightness test. It was concluded that the larger container would probably perform satisfactorily without modification. Since the container must be pried open, however, care must be exercised to prevent damage to the container and/or the contents. The smaller container requires an encircling band at the center in addition to the two encircling end bands for which it was designed. (Author-PL)
