3- TO 5-Micron Parametric Oscillator.

Abstract

The report summarizes the results of this twenty-four month program whose goal is the generation of infrared outputs in the 3 to 5 micron region using optical parametric techniques. External and internal parametric oscillators have been built and operated which use lithium niobate as the nonlinear material and the repetitively Q-switched 1.065 micron output from a Nd:YAG laser as the pump. Analyses were carried out of (1) threshold for an external oscillator employing a hemispherical resonator, and (2) a repetitively Q-switched internal oscillator. (Author)
