A Rigid Body Formulation of the General Motion of a Variable-Mass, Rigid-Shell Missile.

Abstract

The equations of motion of a variable-mass, rigid-shell missile are derived. It is then shown that these equations, which describe the motion of the missile in its trajectory, may be reduced to a form in which the missile may be treated as a rigid body. As these equations are rather general in nature, a simplified set of equations are presented which are applicable to a large number of missile simulations. (Author)
