Computer Design of Logic Circuits,

Abstract

At designing logical circuits it is in general necessary to carry out a high number of simplifying steps on a computer. By characterizing logical functions by indices (Designation Numbers) the utilization of the computer is facilitated and a perspicuous arrangement is possible at performing the simplification. After a short introduction of the characterization by indices, the characteristics of the canonic index form, further the connection between the symbol and index form are discussed. Logical functions written in the index form can be simplified by producing the primary implicants and by determining the simplest product sum form selected of these. The simplification process performed on the index form is described briefly and illustrated by examples, afterwards the computer execution is described. (Author)
